It’s A Conversation, Not A Canon

People often fear trying to hear God in their spirit for fear of the presumption of hearing God speak. But hearing God is a relational, personal thing. It is not meant to be weighed and examined as if it has to pass for Scripture.

Your hearing will not be perfect, because you have filters, as we all do. Filters composed of fears, passions, prejudices and doctrines. Yet listen and hear we must, if we are to experience the fullness of life Jesus promises.

He Awakens My Ear To Listen

Isaiah 50:4 (NASB) says:

He awakens Me morning by morning,
He awakens My ear to listen as a disciple.
The Lord God has opened My ear;
And I was not disobedient
Nor did I turn back.

This is just one of many scriptures that validates my faith that the Lord desires a relationship of personal communication with me.

When I awaken, I never awaken alone; He is with me. The quiet of the morning, before the day fully stirs in and around me, is an ideal time to listen for His voice. His voice is there for the one who says, “I am your disciple. I believe you want to lead and teach me. I am listening, Lord.”
