Years ago in the church we sang Scripture songs, happy clappy little tunes featuring Scripture verses. One I remember well went like this:
Fear not, for I am with you!
Fear not, for I am with you!

If you’ve been around the church a few decades, you can probably hear the tune in your head right now.
I write this sitting in the window seat by windows wide open… one of my favorite things. There is no breeze, only a perfect soft stillness. Miracle of miracles, I am neither too hot nor too cold. My view is filled with a green yard and bushes who declare with their colorful blooms, “What winter?” …
I came to God dragging my heels because I feared becoming one of those religious folks who have lots of rules to follow and a life full of church activity and no fun.
Shallow and selfish, I know, but that’s the truth of who I was then. I wanted, as my mother used to put it, to go for the gusto in life, to have it to the full!
