What Kind Of People Does God Speak To?

I’m passionate about stirring up faith that you can hear God. My life was profoundly changed when I discovered Jesus’ love for me and entrusted my heart to Him. But once I believed I could hear His personal words to me, that profound change multiplied, and a revolution was born, as God totally invaded and …

Re-Ordering Your “To Do” List

It was one of those days: I didn’t feel like a woman in ministry, I felt like a juggler. Tense from head to toe, mind rushing ahead to everything I needed to accomplish that day, and even Jesus was on my TO DO list. Counseling, cooking, housework, writing assignments, watering my wilted flowers…. and as …

God’s Word: Logos or Rhema?

The New Testament Greek writers used one of two words in referring to the Word or words of God: logos or rhema. It is helpful to know the difference and what they each reveal about how God communicates to the Christian believer. Our book, Can I Really Hear God? includes a chapter just on this subject. The following is an excerpt from that chapter, entitled The Difference Between God’s Word and God’s Word.

It’s A Conversation, Not A Canon

can i really hear god

People often fear trying to hear God in their spirit for fear of the presumption of hearing God speak. But hearing God is a relational, personal thing. It is not meant to be weighed and examined as if it has to pass for Scripture.

Father Knows Best

As in all things, Jesus set the best example for us in how to love the Father with all one’s strength. Ironically, He also showed us the key to accomplishing this is to humbly acknowledge your human limitations, and seek the guidance and wisdom only the Father could impart — because after all, Father knows best! Jesus did this by living a life of utter dependence on the Father. Even though Jesus knew He was the son of God on earth, he said incredibly: By myself I can do nothing; I judge only as I hear, and my judgment is just, for I seek not to please myself but him who sent me. (John 5:19).

Psalm 32: A Dialogue With God

you need help

Life with the Spirit offers a dialogue with God that nourish your spirit and soul. Through my first reading of the Bible in 1979, I was inspired to believe and listen for the voice of my new Lord. My journals are now salted with conversations with God as He personally encouraged, comforted and mentored me. The Spirit makes the thoughts of God known to those in whom He lives. That, dear Christian, is YOU.

He Awakens My Ear To Listen

Isaiah 50:4 (NASB) says:

He awakens Me morning by morning,
He awakens My ear to listen as a disciple.
The Lord God has opened My ear;
And I was not disobedient
Nor did I turn back.

This is just one of many scriptures that validates my faith that the Lord desires a relationship of personal communication with me.

When I awaken, I never awaken alone; He is with me. The quiet of the morning, before the day fully stirs in and around me, is an ideal time to listen for His voice. His voice is there for the one who says, “I am your disciple. I believe you want to lead and teach me. I am listening, Lord.”
